Fail

So in case you haven't noticed, I've stopped doing that photo-a-day challenge. Honestly, pictures of "something delicious" and "trash" is not really what I had in mind for my blog. So instead of continuing to do it and cranking out some mediocre posts, I decided heck with it! I doubt any of you are disappointed by this so I don't feel so bad. Anyways--pleaseee check out this engagement shoot I found over at 100 Layer Cake.  I can't stop/won't stop looking at it! Ugh, I want to be them.

Someday

It's no secret that my favorite city in the world is Charleston, South Carolina! Everything about it exudes class and charm, yet it has a laid back attitude that comes with the south. The weather is my idea of perfect--hot summers, long falls and springs, with a quick chill of a winter. Just enough change to make you excited for the next season! So below is a Charleston home at it's finest--bright and airy with pops of muted color and a big ol' porch to sip sweet tea on while my kids catch fireflies in the yard, y'all! Jokes. But I would like this house, please and thank you!

Make a Statement

I really really love a neutral color palette with a splash of color here and there. There is something to be said for statement pieces--whether at an event, design in your home, or a stylish outfit you're rockin', a statement piece works wonders. Something bold but understated is usually your best bet. A stripe of neon? Crazy print? Dash of metallic? Unusually large and eye catching? You bet!

Spring at Last!

Yay! I think spring might officially hit DC! The forecast is a promising 75-80 degrees this St. Patrick's day weekend and I, for one, am embracing it with open arms. I'm even writing this on my back patio as we speak! Facebook is currently plastered with spring break pictures making all my real world friends and me extremely jealous--I miss the days where jetting off to Cabo with 20 of your BFFs was normal! Luckily, I have a nice little trip to Puerto Rico planned next month with the boy, but for now I'll just enjoy this early spring like the rest of the Northeast, even if I have to be in an office from 9-5.

What to Wear

So now that y'all can envision a poolside soiree, what should you wear? For a more casual wedding, my rule of thumb is usually either a short dress with heels (or wedges in this case--since there might be sand!) or a maxi dress with sandals. The more color the better for a summer wedding, so I am loving this mustard yellow dress from Urban Outfitters (which may or may not be hanging in my closet right now...). The higher neck makes the dress conservative enough for the ceremony, but the low back is the perfect transition for a night of dancing under the stars. Pair this dress with some enameled bangles, wedges and a high bun to show of that tanned back, and you've got yourself the perfect casual summer wedding attire.

Photo a Day

Like many iPhone users, I cannot get enough of Instagram. Everyone and everything looks better with little tweaks here and there! And when I came across this Photo a Day Challenge on another blog, I thought, what better way to show off my awesome Instagram skills?! Joke. I think this would be an interesting addition to Pink Poppy Social and I'll update you on my progress weekly. If I end up liking this project, I might go ahead and do it every month for the rest of the year!

Spring Break Style

I'll be honest--I've been feeling very uninspired lately, so I apologize for my lack of posting. I'm not sure what it is, but I think the winter weather is making me want to just do nothing! But, today is a beautiful 65 degrees and the first day I've put on a dress in months, so I decided I would make a spring break inspired board. Lisa is heading to Key West next weekend for a wedding and I'm a little green with envy right now (but lucky me, I'm headed to Puerto Rico in April!). How about a poolside party with buckets of beer and my favorite Reem Acra dress? It's an odd mix, but just go with it. Oh and huge piece of glass covering the pool would make a pretty sweet dance floor, don't ya think?!
